They provide many health benefits
Wool is naturally flame retardant
In the battle of wool vs synthetic carpets, for us, wool wins every time. Its longevity and naturality ensures that it will stay soft and cosy while adding a touch to elegance to any room in your home. It outlasts high traffic and recovers from being flattened by furniture. Wool also takes to dye well, meaning that there are many colourways for you to choose from.
Wool carpets cleaning – are wool carpets easy to clean?
Quality wool carpets add an inviting touch to any room. As a natural fibre, wool is easy to clean and maintain. We have a selection of cleaning wool carpet guides available for our different wool flooring brands.
As natural carpets are particularly absorbent, spillages should be removed as quickly as possible. They should not be wet cleaned or shampooed. We recommend using doormats at entrances to remove as much dirt as possible before stepping onto your carpet.
Do wool carpets shed?
It’s perfectly normal for some natural carpets to start shedding or ‘fluffing’ when first purchased. It is a natural process and will eventually stop. The more durable the carpet is, the less it will fluff, compared to others.
In the meantime, you can vacuum your carpets to remove the fluff. Depending on the type of carpet you have, it may be best to use a non-beater bar vacuum. Please visit our Care and Maintenance guides for more information.
Wool Carpet Installation
We recommend that natural carpets should be installed using the double-stick method, which you can read more about in our Carpets and Environment blog. In this process, you first stick the underlay to the floor, and then stick the carpet on top. The underlay will help maintain your carpet’s stunning look, as natural fibres tend to move with the temperature and atmosphere.
